Guacamole recipe

One of the most popular and tasty Mexican dishes is guacamole. Its charm probably resides in its simplicity and in the variety of foods that guacamole can be used with. It is a dip or sauce that has its origins in pre-Hispanic Mexico and of which there are many variants and recipes from the simplest with just 3 ingredients to more complex ones that may contain multiple ingredients. We could say that any sauce or dip that is based on avocado is considered guacamole, but in Mexico the most popular and used recipe is the one that we are going to describe below.

Guacamole can be used on toast, as a garnish for fish and meat, as a dip for tortilla chips, and to enhance the flavor of any taco.

Method

  1. Peel the avocados and remove the pit. then put the avocado in a bowl and mash with a fork.

  2. Chop the tomato and the onion and add it to the mashed avocados.

  3. Squeeze the lime and add the juice to the mix.

  4. Finely chop the fresh coriander and add it to the mix.

  5. Add some salt.

  6. Using only a kitchen ladle, mix all the ingredients.

  7. Serve in a bowl with a side of tortilla chips and enjoy.
